Privacy Policy

The short version
The app keeps your school, courses and priorities on your phone and sends what it needs to our servers to rank professors for you. We collect how the app is used so we can improve it. Apple handles payments; we never see your card details. There is no account, and we don't ask for your name or email. We don't sell your personal information. ClassSnipe isn't affiliated with any school.
1. About this policy
This policy explains how Eregar Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales and the developer of the ClassSnipe iOS app (the "App"), collects, uses and shares information about you when you use the App.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your semester: your school, your courses, what matters to you in a professor, your answers to the short onboarding questions (for example your year in school and when you register), and the professors and schools you save. This is stored on your phone. The school, course and search text you enter are sent to our servers to load results.
- Reports: if you report a review, the review and the reason you give.
- Messages you send to support.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Apple collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions; it receives a random app user ID, your purchase and subscription history from Apple, and, when available, an Apple Search Ads attribution token that tells us which Apple ad campaign led to the install. We never receive your card number.
Information collected automatically
- Usage: the screens you view and actions you take in the App (for example choosing a school, ranking a course, starting a purchase), with a timestamp.
- Device: a random identifier created by the App, the RevenueCat app user ID, app version, iOS version, device model, language and region, and your IP address (in server logs).
- Session recordings: recordings of how the App's screens are used, including what you type, such as searches and course names.
We don't use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use it
- To provide the App: find your school, rank the professors for your courses and show professor and school details.
- To manage your subscription and restore purchases.
- To understand how the App is used and improve it, using our own analytics and Mixpanel, including session recordings.
- To measure which App Store and Apple Search Ads campaigns lead to installs and subscriptions.
- To review reports about reviews, prevent abuse (for example rate limits per device), keep the App secure and meet legal obligations.
4. Where the ratings come from
Rankings, grade distributions, trends and other figures are computed on our servers from publicly available student ratings and reviews. Your searches and course choices go to our servers, not to any third-party ratings website.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with providers that help us run the App:
- Apple: App Store purchases, subscriptions and, if you opt in, crash reports.
- RevenueCat: subscription management and purchase attribution.
- Supabase: our database and backend, which serve the App's data and store usage events and reports.
- Mixpanel: product analytics and session recordings, stored in the European Union.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business. We don't sell your personal information.
6. How long we keep it
What's on your phone stays until you delete the App. We keep usage events and server logs for as long as we need them to run and improve the App, and subscription records as long as the law requires for tax and accounting.
7. Security
The App talks to our servers over encrypted connections, and our database is reachable only through our own server functions. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you as the law requires.
8. Your choices and rights
- Ask us to see or delete the information linked to your App's identifiers: email support@eregar.com.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Delete the App to remove everything stored on your phone.
- Turn off notifications in Settings → Notifications → ClassSnipe.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights. We won't treat you differently for using them.
9. Children
The App is for college students and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here with a new date. See also our Terms of Use.
